If you don’t have time to read the whole master list now, save and enjoy it for later. And skip to my Top 5 Restaurants.
The best that Ogden has to offer, in terms of great eateries!
Ogden area is my old stompin’ ground, so to speak!
So I have 20+ years of experience of eating at amazing places in this area ;) I grew up in the small Ogden valley, (which is really 30 minutes east of Ogden) Or as us valleyites call it “the Valley!”
I loved growing up there. We had anything you ever wanted to do, right in your own backyard, like snowboarding, snowmobiling, boating, hiking, biking, horseback riding…. etc, etc… and the list could go on and on!
It was amazing! Maybe I’ll have to write a post about the Valley someday.
Enough reminiscing… Now for the master list of great food!
Our first contender is right off the highway and is Mexican cuisine and it’s fabulous.
So good in fact, we had our wedding luncheon catered by them!
My go-to is
The Burrito Gordito – with shredded beef, is my favorite. (but chicken is good too) It’s smothered with the red enchilada sauce, it is to die for!
Another favorite is their Chimichangas – they are crispy and delicious. (add a side of mama’s white sauce to dip your chimi into, it’s pretty freaking fantastic and it mixes well their enchilada sauce to boot!)
A family favorite is their fresh homemade Guacamole Fresco, which is an avocado salsa made table-side. It hasALL fresh ingredients, it is a very fun experience to watch them make it!
Pro tip: If you are a sauce person, get any burrito, chimichanga etc. etc… and add the mama’s creamy, cheesy white sauce!!!!! Sometimes I’ll order the Burrito Gordito with chicken and then add the mama’s white sauce, instead of the enchilada sauce!
Can we say delicious? Yes, yes we can!
*Just FYI for some reason the shredded beef, doesn’t go as well with the mama’s white sauce. I thinks it’s because the beef is cooked with the red sauce.🤷♀️
Can we talk for a sec about their burgers? They have such unique and different burgers. The Farley Burger, Paul Bunyan, Mr T, the Duke, with names like that how could they NOT be great?!
My absolute favorite is the
Farley Burger – A whole buffalo chicken strip, with buffalo sauce, hamburger and blue cheese. It’s so fabulous,
My husband prefers
Paul Bunyan – hamburger topped with a beef frank, cheese, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms.
Mr T – hamburger topped with pastrami, cheese and burly sauce.
If you’re looking for a “lighter” options try their Chicken Cob Salad
Their sides are equally at delectable!
Don’t let me get started OR let me get started, you won’t regret it ha!
Their battered fries are to die for! AND… the fried cheese curds are so bubbly and crispy! I haven’t ever had fried cheese like these before, they don’t have any batter but they are the bubbliest yumminess ever!
Dip them in the Utah fry sauce as well, they are so Aaaaammmmaazzing! Just try them, you can thank me later!
Now top of your burly burger experience and end with dessert! Shakes, ice cream is always the answer, no matter the question!
The caramel and cookie dough shakes are super creamy and yummy to the tummy! But you can get any flavor you prefer.
Now just dip your battered fries in the shakes and call it a day!
I mean if you like fries and ice cream together, which I personally do!
Their diner food is pretty good, but their, Fries, Shakes and Glaciers are where they stand out!
Now if you are wondering what a Glacier is, it’s a very unique mix of a slushy/galato/shake/snowcone esk thing…
You can create your own unique combination of flavors or choose from a menu.
I tried a new combo this last time,
Peach Coconut! It was really tasty.
My usual go to is the Tiger’s Blood, but all the glacier I’ve gotten I love!
Kirts peach Glacier I wish it wasn’t so dark… I could have gotten a better picture of the glacier :(
Trust me on this one! Just try one and you won’t be disappointed!
It’s just really fun to have a very unique, yummy dessert. Something you’ve never really had anywhere else!
The atmosphere is really “GROOVY” and fun too.
Ordering out in your car is like stepping back into the 50’s.
It make me want to put a poodle skirt on and start swing dancing! HAHA
Fun fact, Kirt’s has been used in a movie.
Pro tip: For either dinner or as an appetizer go to the Pizza Man (basically next store to Kirt’s) and get their amazing breadtwists and Chinese chicken pizza.
Then go over to Kirt’s and get dessert! Best of both worlds, right?
This is the Breadtwist place, I told you about above.
You will want a whole box to yourself!
Breadtwist – They are garlicy, parmesany and delicious! I mean just look at them!
Believe me, I take my carbs VERY seriously!
If I’m going to add some inches to my waistline it had better be WORTH it! I’m kinda picky in that regard;) Weird I know!
The Chinese Chicken Pizza
This last time we decided to try their
Chinese Chicken pizza – it had an sweetish sauce with a creamy ranch mixed in and chicken and peanuts (remember to add the peanuts). It’s sounds really odd…
Well let’s start with the appetizer, upon request it comes with rangoons, tempura fried vegetables and miso soup.
Just remember you have to tell them you want to order them AND the biggest thing to remember is that if you don’t eat everything you order you have to pay extra, so be aware and don’t get order happy.
Crab rangoons, tempura fried vegetable and miso soup.Rangoon gooey goodness
Make sure to go hungry, so you can try all the different rolls.
TIP:
The server will give you this ⬇ paper for you to order your first batch of rolls.
This is the ordering paper, we like the long rolls best, but the hand rolls are good too just different. The long rolls are what you see in all the pictures.
I would suggest, if you know what rolls you want to start with order asap, sometimes they take a minute to get out to you. (like the popper took extra time)
I would only order 1-2 to start with. Then once those rolls come out, be ready with your next order paper (another 1-3 rolls) and have them put in your next order, then you’ll get the next batch pretty soon after finishing the first one.
Does that make sense? or is it “as clear as mud?” as my dad use to say!
Shoving a whole piece of sushi in my mouth, because I couldn’t wait!Justin was a “little” more patient than me haha
Our favorite rolls:
The mighty 3 most favorites! We order them first so we know we won’t get too full! Left-Angry Lion King Middle-New Yorker Right-TNT
Angry Lion King – Is tempura fried, with cream cheese, shrimp, crab stick, jalapeno, house spicy sauce and eel sauce. This is my #1 roll I love the most!
New Yorker – is pretty similar to the Angry Lion King, but has spicy mayo instead of the house spicy sauce and the seaweed wrap is under the rice, where as the Angry Lion is over the rice.
TNT – spicy crab salad, jalapeno, cream cheese, cucumber, crunchies and house spicy sauce. It’s tempura fried, but has these really yummy crunchies on top. The flavor of the crab salad is delicious too!
Rock Shrimp – Sweet bay shrimp tempura, crunchies, Tony’s sauce and sesame seeds. I can take or leave this roll personally, but this is one of Justin’s favorites.
Kona – Mango, cucumber, crab stick, crunchies, passion sauce and toasted coconut. (we call this our dessert roll) A new favorite we added to the “Favorites List” last time we went!
It was super yummy and just the right amount of sweet.
The passion sauce was divine!!!!
The only thing that would have made it even better…. was if they added more fruit and would take out the crab, but it still was amazing!
The bottom roll is the Kona, see that mouthwatering yellow passion sauce?! mmm heavenly! The top roll is the Rock Shrimp (One of Justin’s favorites)
Popper – it’s tempura AND panko fried, with salmon, cream cheese, jalapeno, crab stick and topped with thai chili sauce. (The Popper is only on the dinner menu just FYI) Another new addition to the list.
Popper
It was good, Justin really liked it and would order again.
I liked it but, I’m not sure if I’d order again, but this was our last roll.
So maybe I was just super full and HAD to finish the roll so it was as tasty to me???
Bottom roll-New Yorker Top roll-Angry Lion King
The one we did NOT like and was really bland was the Winterwe will NOT be ordering that roll again.
The look of a contented sushi coma!
I hope you will love Tony’s sushi as much as we do!
Tony’s is a hole in the wall type place. They have fabulous Italian style pizza. In addition their salad and house zesty Italian dressing, is a must. If it’s to your liking, dip your pizza crust in the dressing. We won’t judge you if you dip your whole pizza in the dressing as well;)
Is a cozy home town eatery. They have a variety of foods, such as, soups, sandwiches, pastas and pizzas. Their unique chicken alfredo pizza, is my favorite. It has a huge fluffy crust, which is amazing!
Hanumaru – Japanese
This is a charming family owned, small restaurant (think tiny house, it’s so cute.) that has really outstanding sushi and tempera fried veggies!
I just found that Cafe Rio is a western state restaurant….
What? I had no idea, until a friend from the Midwest visited and they had never been to Cafe Rio.
They loved it!
So of course I had to add and share this delectable Mexican eatery.
My go-to is the Shredded Beef Burrito – with black beans, rice, mild sauce. I always get it enchilada style. More sauce the better I say!
My husbands go-to is the Hatch Chili Pork Burrito – It also has black beans, rice, mild sauce. Their salads are also phenomenal!
See those mini salads on the side? Genius right?
Pro Tip: If you can’t decide on either a salad or a burrito, get the lettuce and pico on the side. Then order some of their oh so Creamy Tomatillo Dressing.
Two for one, a burrito and a salad. Decision Made! The Tomatillo Dressing makes a killer sauce for your burrito as well, especially for this saucy loving lady!
Kneaders started in Orem, Utah, it has grown to have many restaurants in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and Texas.
I know that it’s not technically just a Utah restaurant, but lot of states don’t have them so it made the list!
Needless to say, if you haven’t been there, you should!
They have really delicious breads, baked goods, sandwiches, breakfast items and my all time favorite, is drum roll….
Their all you can eat French Toast!!!!!!! This french toast is so thick and tasty. It comes with the creamiest, carameliest, buttery goodness, they call syrup!
Added to this is their homemade whipped cream and strawberries. It’s Ambrosia in a bite!
I know Mod Pizza isn’t just a Utah restaurant, but it’s still yummy, sooooo….
Mod Pizza is a little different than most pizza places. You can either build your own pizza or get one of their specialty pizzas.
I get the 11 inch build your own pizza – with white sauce, spinach, garlic, chicken, pepperoni, salami, sausage, spicy sausage, asiago, mozzarella, and shredded parmesan cheese. (Breath) Salt and pepper, rosemary, oregano and more white sauce on top. Wow what a mouth full! And a belly full HA! YUM!
This is my favorite pizza combo!Caesar Salad
Their salads pretty amazing as well! It’s just so great that you can built to your personal specifications!
The thing that makes Pizzeria unique, is that you can mix their sauces.
The Carnivore Pizza
For instance we love to mix their medium and spicy sauces, on the Meat Loversand Carnivore Pizzas.
Mixing the Alfredo and Marinara sauce together make for a tasty combination as well.
Personally I love theirChicken Alfredo pizza! (I make sure to have leftovers to take home, even if that means ordering another pizza)
Chicken Alfredo Pizza
They have good salads as well
The Deluxe salad with ranch dressing
Timbermine– Steak House
The Timbermine is a pretty pricey place to go. Like us you may have to save up for it HA! It’s such a great environment. It’s like stepping back into an old mining camp, it’s really really cool! The white Gold (halibut) and the Fresh Gold (salmon) are outstanding and fall apart in your mouth. Actually this is where I first learned I liked halibut!
Side Note: This is a great place to have a wedding luncheon or any celebration. One of my best friends had her wedding luncheon here and she loved it! (so did I hehe)
Cinnamon Pretzel Shake, look at that crazy goodness!
La Crepe has that the funnest desserts! They are so HUGE, sweet and very unique HA that even rhymes! I got the Cinnamon Pretzel Shake, it was soooo yummy, but as you can imagine I couldn’t eat it all by myself, my sister helped me.
My hubby got their Bubble Waffle ohmyoreo, it was divine!
ohmyoreo bubble waffle
It had a cool bubble wafflie thing, topped with oreos, a WHOLE piece of cheesecake! Vanilla ice cream, bananas and nutella drizzles in top! It was delicious.
My mom got the seasonal Peppermint Shake, I can take or leave peppermint, but I really liked the flavor in this shake.
It has a yummy peppermint ice cream, with TONS of whipped cream, sprinkle, chocolate spoons and pop rocks, which was a fun twist.
The other fun thing about La Crepe was the environment, that have flowers covering the walls, they even have a social media/take pictures room, if you’re into stuff like that.
They had a fun swing and couch you could sit on and take pictures.
Just know they did take a VERY long time to get our orders out and they are pretty darn expensive! But it still was a super fun experience!!
With an interesting name like that, you just need to check it out!
The Ham Hash is our groups favorite, my mom calls it a southern glorified hash browns and eggs. It’s full of flavor with ham, peppers, onions, potatoes, bacon and lemon aioli sauce.
Ham Hash
I really like their Biscuits and Gravy – The biscuits are flaky, the sausage gravy it creamy mouthwatering and I like scrabbled eggs on top of mine!
Biscuits and Gravy
My hubby got their Pig Burger and enjoyed it. It had a really yummy roasted garlic aioli sauce and bacon, with a side of fries!
Pig Burger
“Full bellies and fun vacations make for more joyful journeys, this’s just one Country Girl’s opinion! ENJOY!”
